As a therapist – and as a person - I recognize and enjoy the uniqueness of each person I meet. My attitude toward you is one of curiosity, respect, and openness. I will try to help you discover more and more about who you are and what you want, and what helps you achieve your goals. My approach varies with each person, as each person grows in a different way, but it will start with giving you a chance to express yourself, and helping you to explore and affirm your strengths, as well as the places you feel stuck.
You probably have specific issues that you’re struggling with. I will help you clarify the issues, untangle your unproductive negative beliefs, gather your resources, practice new skills if that seems helpful. I have a repertoire of techniques that we can draw from that have helped many people in the past.
I received a B.A. in English from Wellesley College, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist to work with individuals and with couples. My background is in Relational Therapy and Mindfulness and also incorporates some of the new findings about how our memory and emotions are stored in the brain and body, and how best to access them and heal their painful and toxic traces.
Please give me a call at Alhambra Valley Counseling Center if you’d like to talk about working together.
